We’re thinking positive thoughts. We’re hoping that warmer weather and more people getting their vaccinations will allow us to get back to having the fun times we’re used to with our neighbors, but before we get ahead of ourselves and over-confident we want to hear from you.

Are you and your family looking for a way to give back to the community this winter? WPN is partnering with the Tillman house to provide and assemble warming kits to help our local community members stay warm.

There’s more that goes into making WPN run than most people know. It’s at times rewarding and at times thankless. I know our neighborhood is a better neighborhood however because of the efforts and dedication of our board members and chairpersons.

Baking has been such a comfort during this COVID summer: the manual labor of kneading a dough or mixing a batter, the sweet smells of sugar baking, the satisfaction of cutting into a flaky crust, and the reward of the perfect first bite. The last couple of weeks, the peach has been the star ingredient! 

Our latest haul from the Neighbors Community Market (don’t forget to stop by Neighbors Feed & Seed on Saturdays, https://www.neighborsfeedandseed.com/) yielded a delicious slab pie. Try it out!

We have some EXCITING news to share, and somewhat time sensitive. The Atlanta Falcons chose US WPN!!! Now let’s do our part and RISE UP!!!

We know there’s a LOT of opinion in WPN (wink wink). Why not put that talent to good use and contribute you our neighborhood blog? Are you a gardener willing to share some occasional tips? Maybe you’re a foodie and could share some recipes or restaurant review? Whether it’s a DIY tip, a book review, tech tip, diet/fitness info, educational or informational does not matter. We just want to hear your voice!!

It was a good run WPN. We supported 3 local businesses over 3 weeks tallying up nearly 150 orders for local restauranteurs, entrepreneurs and their loyal staff. Thats something to be proud of. On behalf of the 3 local restaurants you helped to support, Thank you.

Win-Win Wednesday was a huge hit last week! Let’s keep up the momentum and continue to support our local restaurants. This Wednesday, April 8th we will be supporting Zucca’s Pizzeria! Zucca’s is opening up their entire menu for us.

Many neighbors continue to reach out and ask how they might be able to help a fellow neighbor or someone in the community. We thought it would be cool to team up with a local restaurant to help support their business and enjoy a (virtual) meal with your Williams Park Neighbors. The owners at Mezza Luna have even agreed to bring in their wait staff who aren’t currently working to deliver your hot meals door to door!

With these extraordinary and uncertain times we understand that everyone is feeling the impact of COVID-19 in one way or another. Some in our community are seeing a disruption to their daily lives, some are having to hold on to every penny and some are trying to figure out how to eat.

Approaching Spring is always a fun time in the neighborhood as we start to see more and more neighbors and children enjoying the outdoors. This is really when WPN starts to kick into high gear. This time of year also signifies the start of our annual membership drive. We personally welcome you to renew your current membership or join us as a new member. Hello everyone!

I wanted to give you all an update on the traffic calming efforts that have taken place by the city as well as an update on some efforts still ongoing.

As I enter her home studio, I am immediately drawn to the photo of Lucas, her beloved family Labrador that passed years ago. It’s clear that she has a passion and talent for pet photography, but as our conversation continues, I will learn even more about her unique approach to capturing life’s precious moments.

One of the best things about WPN are the friendships made within our community. Our monthly Happy Hours are a great place to meet new people, see old friends and eat delicious food in a fun and casual atmosphere. Held on the third Friday of every month at a WPN household, neighbors bring an appetizer to share and their drink of choice to catch up with neighbors. We are very grateful to have such wonderfully active members and would like to extend a hearty Thank You to each and every host!

We meet every month at a different person's house to discuss a book of their choice. The next meeting will be January 26th at 3 pm at Leanne Fey’s house, 1496 Spring Street. We will be reading It All Comes Back to You by Beth Duke. As always, we are accepting new members and anyone can just show up at the meeting.

This edition of Meet Your Neighbor is a special one. While our new Ward 3 representative, Travis Lindley, doesn’t officially live in WPN, he is an important part of our neighborhood. The city elections recently wrapped up and we have a new Mayor and a new City Council Representative. Williams Parks is Smyrna’s oldest neighborhood and we are proud of our history and strong community involvement.
