3 new stop signs coming to Williams Park!
I wanted to give a quick update on the progress for traffic calming in the neighborhood. We’ve been approved for three new stop signs.
The City engineering department approved stop signs at Hawthorne/Gilbert and Roswell/Windy Hill Pl. The request for a stop sign at Mathews/Whitfield was not approved by the City however Councilman Lindley sought for approval by City Council and it was approved 7-0 last night. There’s no definitive date for installation. I’ll update as more information becomes available.
I’d like to thank Travis Lindley for his hard work in getting this approved and accomplished. He and I have had more than a half dozen meetings over the past few months with City Staff, City Officials, Chief Bennett and our neighbors. I was glad to hear him say that these stop signs are the start and not the end. We know there’s more issues and work to be done. I’m grateful to the City in approving these measures.
Thank you also to our neighbors for lending their voices and/or messages, responding to surveys and attending meetings. This went a long way to prove the need for these measures.
I’d like to give specific thanks to Hayli McQuade, Greg Willet, Darian Luke and Price Donaldson who attended meetings and helped with petition signing.
Great news WPN!
