Meet Your Neighbor: Robert Harrison (Dec 2014)
Robert enjoys making both light- hearted and meaningful pieces. Among the former, whose titles often involve word play, is a recent audience par-ticipation piece called “Fire in the Corn Hole,” pictured at bottom left. It’s very much like the common game of tossing a bean bag through a hole. In Robert’s version, though, when a player successfully targets a fire- proof “bean bag,” the modest flame atop a stand pipe explodes like a flamethrower and fire shoots out of the “hole.” Among the more meaningful pieces, “Burnt Offering,” which incorporates both fire and water, speaks to the beauty of a sincerely given and/or received gift. His most recent piece, and the largest to date, is nine feet tall and eight feet wide. “Singing Serpent” takes the form of a fire breath- ing snake rising above a peace sign and coiling around flowers. Is the beast pro- tecting these symbols or smashing and burning them? Robert leaves it to the viewer to choose one of those narra- tives, devise a third story, or do entirely without.
‘Stache bash, Pipe Farm, Baby Boom, Pirates, Dragons and Desserted islands?
What do all of these things have in common? Well once upon a time, in Smyrna’s Oldest Neighborhood, the neighbors would get together often. They would host parties and get together for Happy Hours. They would hold contests for best Chili, best ‘stache, best dessert. They dressed as pirates and even had pet dragons. Did you know that Whitfield Parc was once best known as the “Pipe Farm”, and before that Valley Woods?

Let us know what you’re thinking!
We’re thinking positive thoughts. We’re hoping that warmer weather and more people getting their vaccinations will allow us to get back to having the fun times we’re used to with our neighbors, but before we get ahead of ourselves and over-confident we want to hear from you.
Please take less than 90 seconds to answer the survey via the link below and give us some feedback for what you would be interested in doing (or not doing) in regard to having some events this Spring and again in the Fall.

Thank you to our chairpersons
There’s more that goes into making WPN run than most people know. It’s at times rewarding and at times thankless. I know our neighborhood is a better neighborhood however because of the efforts and dedication of our board members and chairpersons.
Ending Summer on a Sweet Note: Perfect Peach Slab Pie!
Baking has been such a comfort during this COVID summer: the manual labor of kneading a dough or mixing a batter, the sweet smells of sugar baking, the satisfaction of cutting into a flaky crust, and the reward of the perfect first bite. The last couple of weeks, the peach has been the star ingredient!
Our latest haul from the Neighbors Community Market (don’t forget to stop by Neighbors Feed & Seed on Saturdays, https://www.neighborsfeedandseed.com/) yielded a delicious slab pie. Try it out!
WPN, it’s time to RISE UP
We have some EXCITING news to share, and somewhat time sensitive. The Atlanta Falcons chose US WPN!!! Now let’s do our part and RISE UP!!!
Now Calling all Bloggers
We know there’s a LOT of opinion in WPN (wink wink). Why not put that talent to good use and contribute you our neighborhood blog? Are you a gardener willing to share some occasional tips? Maybe you’re a foodie and could share some recipes or restaurant review? Whether it’s a DIY tip, a book review, tech tip, diet/fitness info, educational or informational does not matter. We just want to hear your voice!!

It was a good run. Win:Win Wednesday

Week 1: Mezza Luna - 75 Orders
Week 2: Zucca Pizzeria - 40 Orders

Thank you from Zucca Pizzeria
Thank you SO MUCH to the community of Williams Park for making us a part of Win:Win Wednesday and supporting us as a local restaurant!
We are so lucky to have you as neighbors!
Win:Win Wednesday - Zucca Pizzeria
Win-Win Wednesday was a huge hit last week! Let’s keep up the momentum and continue to support our local restaurants. This Wednesday, April 8th we will be supporting Zucca’s Pizzeria! Zucca’s is opening up their entire menu for us.
Win:Win Wednesday - Mezza Luna
Many neighbors continue to reach out and ask how they might be able to help a fellow neighbor or someone in the community. We thought it would be cool to team up with a local restaurant to help support their business and enjoy a (virtual) meal with your Williams Park Neighbors. The owners at Mezza Luna have even agreed to bring in their wait staff who aren’t currently working to deliver your hot meals door to door!
We must help Must
With these extraordinary and uncertain times we understand that everyone is feeling the impact of COVID-19 in one way or another. Some in our community are seeing a disruption to their daily lives, some are having to hold on to every penny and some are trying to figure out how to eat.
Membership Drive and What’s New?
Neighbors,
I’m hoping that you’re enjoying the breaks in the rain here and there and welcoming the mild but warmer weather. Approaching Spring is always a fun time in the neighborhood as we start to see more and more neighbors and children enjoying the outdoors. This is really when WPN starts to kick into high gear. This time of year also signifies the start of our annual membership drive. We personally welcome you to renew your current membership or join us as a new member. There’s no better time than the present

Meet your Neighbor: Nina Parker
As I enter her home studio, I am immediately drawn to the photo of Lucas, her beloved family Labrador that passed years ago. It’s clear that she has a passion and talent for pet photography, but as our conversation continues, I will learn even more about her unique approach to capturing life’s precious moments.
