Membership Drive and What’s New?
Neighbors,
I’m hoping that you’re enjoying the breaks in the rain here and there and welcoming the mild but warmer weather. Approaching Spring is always a fun time in the neighborhood as we start to see more and more neighbors and children enjoying the outdoors. This is really when WPN starts to kick into high gear. This time of year also signifies the start of our annual membership drive. We personally welcome you to renew your current membership or join us as a new member. There’s no better time than the present.
As you likely know by now this past Fall Keith Bentley our long standing President announced his retirement from the board in a day to day capacity. He now serves as President Emeritus primarily supporting the efforts of our new President, Rob Allen who was VP previously. Kristy Barker has stepped in to fill the VP role and has been a huge help and proven valued asset to the board. Myrna Evans also announced her retirement as Treasurer from the board. Claudia Tullock has stepped into the Treasurer role and proven to be a tremendous asset to the board in a big way not missing a beat picking up where long standing Treasurer Myrna left off. Liz Davis is the lone standing original board member for WPN. She still serves dutifully as Secretary, Historian, Matriarch and all around joy to interact with as I’m sure you all would agree.
The board voted and approved the addition of Social Chair to be added as an official voting board position. After Susan Bentley announced her retirement as Social Chair, Emily Devane has stepped in, in a big way. Emily has a bajillion and one great new ideas to enhance our events and increase organization of such. We’re very excited to give you the first taste of this at the annual Easter egg hunt on March 28. Finally, our tried and true Hayli McQuade maintains her official position as membership chair and historian. Hayli is very active in the neighborhood. She’s a huge advocate for the local schools and works tirelessly in the community. WPN is very lucky to have her serving in official capacity to the board.
Now for what’s new, exciting and upcoming. For one, you’re most likely reading this update on our new website!
Website
Our old website had become a bit outdated and in need of a refresh. We opted to move to a new platform to bring you our neighbors an enhanced medium to keep up with the going on’s in the neighborhood as well as the ability to offer an enhanced membership and storefront experience. We’re exited to bring the following enhancements and hope that you will enjoy them.
News - Now calling all bloggers!
We hope that you’ll enjoy our neighborhood news curated completely by your neighbors.
Our intent is to create a place where you can keep up with important announcements and updates within the neighborhood but also a place to allow for bloggers and blog readers to post relevant content to our site. We hope to have new content to share weekly and invite everyone to read and we of course need volunteers to blog. The more the merrier. If you’re interested please let us know in the volunteer section.
Store - Get your WPN Starter kit today!
We plan to offer even more WPN “stuff” and the new website allows us to easily manage an online store.
You can buy mugs and flags currently very easily.
We plan to sell tickets for the Braves game through the website too.
Membership - Set it and forget it (if you want)
Announcing join at any time and auto renewal membership.
We’ve converted all memberships going forward to 12 month from date of joining. New members can sign up at any time and enjoy 12 months of membership from that date.
Now with an auto renewal membership you just need to sign up one time and we’ll auto renew your membership for you every 12 months. You can easily turn off this option if you would like.
Still not a member? Join Now *must live in Williams Park
Calendar of Events & Organization - Always know what’s being planned and how you can be involved
Now easily keep up with upcoming events, happy hours and anything else we think may interest you.
Click on any event and see all pertinent information
Volunteer - Be a part of your community
WPN is entirely made up of volunteers graciously donating their time and energy to the community
Never before has it been easier to get involved.
Consider visiting our Volunteer page or specific Event Pages to see how you can get involved.
More Events
We want to offer many more events and do more community projects than we have in the past. To do so, we need your help! We’re looking for organizers to organize specific events or areas of interest and special projects. If you’re interested please let us know.
A few ideas we have already are listed below.
Kids events
Mens Social
Ladies Social
Teen events
Singles only
Specific interests
Special projects
Philanthropy
Diversity Club
Sport Social Club(s) (Cornhole, Golf, Tennis, etc)
Theatre Club
Sporting events (WPN Braves game will be an official WPN event)
If you’re interested in organizing one of these above or have an idea of your own, please let us know
Membership dues increase
As you can see we’ve already provided an enhancement to membership and are planning to do even more in addition to what’s above; dues go to pay for our quarterly events, beautification projects around the neighborhood ( like the mini libraries, planting bushes in our WPN parks), printing of our March newsletter and maintaining website and other association fees. We think all of this is an incredible value at just $25 a year and hope that you’ll see it that way as well. The board voted unanimously in favor of a $5 increase of membership dues to $25 annually in December.
Join WPN now
Whether you’re renewing or joining as a new member we look forward to having you as a Williams Park Neighbor.
Thank you,
WPN Board
